2002 Komen National Race for the Cure JOIN OUR TEAM! & Save the Date!

The 2002 Komen Race for the Cure will take place on Saturday, June 1st, 2002. This annual 5K Walk/Run is sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money for breast cancer research, treatment, screening and education. The proceeds from this event help to fund research, outreach and treatments programs to fuel the fight against breast cancer, and efforts to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.

If you participated in the Race last year, by now you will have received a reminder, and your Race registration form. If you did not, now is a very good time to consider participating in the World’s Largest 5K.

Our Team registration materials for the Race are in. This is the 5th year that a team has been registered by the Malawi Washington Association.

Last year, there were 43 people in our team. With your help, we can have an even bigger team this year. We welcome friends and family to join our team. Please forward this email to your friends and family.

Joining our team is so easy! The Team acronym is MWA. If you participated in last year’s Race, and have already received your registration form, please include this acronym on your registration form, so that you can be registered as part of our team.

If you have not received your registration form, please end me an email and I will send you the form, and include you on all future correspondence about the Race.

There are many ways to register.


• On-Line Registration ~ the official website is www.nationalraceforthecure.org. The on-line registration fee is $30.
• Registration by Mail ~ pick up a registration form at various locations throughout the Washington area and submit it no later than May 15th and pay the early registration fee of $25.00. Race T-Shirts and bibs will be mailed directly to you, by Race day.
• One-Stop Registration ~ you can register at selected places throughout the Washington area. Dates, and locations have been set for one-stop registration, where you can pick up race information, register, and collect your bib, and T-shirt. The one-stop registration fee is $25.00
• Team Bundling ~ submit your registration form and check to me NO LATER THAN May 5th, 2001. I will collect your registration information, including bib, T-Shirt, and get it to you by Race day.
• Save by early registration! Register before May 15th for $25. After May 16th, registration is $30.00.
