The 2002 Komen Race for the Cure took place on Saturday, June 1st, 2002 and Malawi Washington Association members took part in the event. This annual 5K Walk/Run is sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money for breast cancer research, treatment, screening and education. The proceeds from this event help to fund research, outreach and treatments programs to fuel the fight against breast cancer, and efforts to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.
